Wonder Bread maker files bankrupcy
Interstate Bakeries, hit by accounting and low-carb woes, seeks Chapter 11 protection.
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Interstate Bakeries, maker of Wonder Bread and Twinkies, filed for bankruptcy court protection early Wednesday. The company, which operates 57 bakeries throughout the United States and employs more than 33,000 people, listed assets of $1.6 billion and liabilities of $1.3 billion. It filed under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, and said it intends to continue normal operations. Wonder Bread is the worst thing our children can eat. Let’s hope they don’t recover.http://money.cnn.com/2004/09/22/news/fortune500/interstate_bankruptcy/index.htm?cnn=yes for the full story.

don't worry, they'll ramp up production of Twinkies, and since they have a half life of 187 years, they'll still be around for a while.
Yeah, but I don't want to have to buy them from shady Twinkie-brokers on eBay.
You would think they would get a clue and start making Whole Grain and Low Carb bread?

I suspect that arsenic-coated lead weights with cyanide filling would be worse things to eat than Wonder Bread. But I could be wrong.
Heck, I think twinkies are probably worse than wonder bread, too...

How is wonder bread the worst thing??
I admit I prefer wheat, but I ate a lot of WB as a kid.
I, personally, prefer Wonder Bread. |
